On the morning of June 28, SDUT held a meeting on propaganda, ideology, and cultural work in the lecture hall on the first floor of Hongyuan Building. The meeting aimed to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping's cultural thought and fully implement the spirit of the national and provincial meetings on propaganda, ideology, and cultural work. It systematically summarized the achievements, experiences, and shortcomings of the SDUT’s propaganda and cultural work in recent years and discussed and deployed key tasks for the current and future periods. The goal is to provide a strong ideological guarantee, powerful spiritual support, and a rich cultural atmosphere for the construction of a high-level university.
HU Xingyu, Secretary of SDUT’s Party Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting was chaired by DENG Changliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. Vice Presidents CONG Hailin and CHEN Jing, members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, were also present, along with all members of SDUT’s Ideological & Propaganda Work Leadership Group, as well as secretaries, deputy secretaries, publicity committee members from various secondary Party committees, and relevant departmental staff.
At the meeting, CONG Hailin conveyed the important directives from General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding propaganda, ideology, and cultural work, as well as the spirit of the national meeting on propaganda and cultural work. CHEN Jing relayed the spirit of the provincial meeting on propaganda and cultural work. The Party leaders from the School of Transportation and Vehicle Engineering, the School of Agricultural Engineering and Food Science, and the School of Literature and Journalism delivered speeches focusing on ideological work, publicity work, and cultural work, respectively.
HU Xingyu delivered a speech, pointing out that universities are the frontline of propaganda, ideology, and cultural work. Effectively carrying out propaganda, ideology, and cultural work is a strategic project, a foundational project, and a soul-nurturing project that concerns the fundamental questions of “what kind of people to cultivate, how to cultivate them, and for whom to cultivate them.” He systematically summarized the achievements in SDUT's propaganda, ideology, and cultural work in recent years from six aspects, while also highlighting shortcomings in areas such as the integration of theoretical armament and practical application and the construction of the “big ideological and political” work framework.
Regarding the study and implementation of Xi Jinping’s cultural thought and the overall enhancement of the SDUT’s propaganda, ideology, and cultural work, Hu Xingyu emphasized that first, the awareness of taking political sides must be improved to deeply understand the significant meaning and profound connotations of Xi Jinping’s cultural thought. He stressed that in-depth study and implementation of Xi Jinping’s cultural thought should be regarded as an important political task for the current and future periods. Efforts should be made in deeply learning and understanding, publicizing and promoting, researching and interpreting, and fully implementing it, ensuring that Xi Jinping’s cultural thought is effectively put into practice at SDUT and yields visible results.
Second, it is essential to strengthen responsibility and accountability, significantly enhancing the sense of responsibility and mission in carrying out propaganda, ideology, and cultural work. Cultural education should be integrated into the entire process of ideological and political work, emphasizing the cultivation of individuals through culture and moral education. There should always be a strong focus on ideological security, continuously enhancing the ability to engage in struggles and improving the capacity for risk anticipation, response, and management. Attention should be directed towards core tasks, serving the overall development strategy, and creating a cultural atmosphere that aligns with SDUT’s development goals and actual conditions, guiding all faculty and students to be invigorated, motivated, and courageous in moving forward.
Third, it is vital to gather spiritual strength and strive for new breakthroughs in SDUT’s propaganda, ideology, and cultural work. First, we should focus on solidifying the foundation of ideological construction and actively build a “big ideological and political” work framework to provide a strong ideological guarantee for SDUT’s high-quality development. Second, we should emphasize enhancing the quality and empowerment of public opinion and construct a “extensive publicity” work framework to provide powerful spiritual support for SDUT’s high-quality development. Third, we should adhere to innovation in cultural construction, focusing on creating a “big cultural” work framework to cultivate a rich cultural atmosphere for SDUT’s high-quality development. Fourth, we should strengthen organizational leadership and ensure various conditions are met to strive for a new situation of high-quality development in SDUT’s propaganda, ideology, and cultural work.
As the host of the meeting, DENG Changliang emphasized the need to thoroughly learn and fully understand the spirit of this meeting. He urged everyone to take responsibility and enhance their capabilities, integrating knowledge to strive for excellence.
